Eimbcke won a scholarship for 10, 000 dollars to finance his new movie, El diario de un elefante, whose script is still a work in progress. “I don´t want to talk too much about the project. I feel my energy gets drained when I talk about it,” he said after being asked about the topic of his movie. “I can say however that it is about a man who after being abandoned as a child by his father now has to take care of him while he’s old or not. I don’t know, this could change.” Gonzalez said his film, entitled Los cuates de Australia, tells the story of a group of people who flee from the drought in Australia, Coahuila. “It´s about an exodus of those who wait for the rain´s return”, he said. “Without this [economic] stimulus we would hardly be able to produce anything, so I want to thank the Tribeca Fund for not letting this scholarship die.” There was a Q & A session following the conference and then the Tribeca Film Institute, Movie City and BBVA Bancomer invited the attendees to a party at Balcones del Angel. Eimbcke and Gonzalez were there along with hundreds of other people, including the special guests of the seventh Edition of FICM, like the committee of Romanian filmmakers as well as the national directors in competition.
