Attending the event were Marina Stavenhagen, director of IMCINE; Henner Hoffman, director of the CCC film school; filmmaker Alejandro Pelayo; Daniela Michel, general director of FICM and Alejandro Ramírez, president of the festival.

Hoffman said that the school will have a staff of professional screenwriters, including Marcela Fuentes-Berain, Marina Stavenhagen, Ignacio Ortiz, Carlos Cuarón, Paula Markovitch, Flavio González Melo, in addition to visiting professors, such as Vicente Leñero, Guillermo Arriaga and Nicolás Alvarado, among others.

Director Alejandro Pelayo said he was very pleased about the opening of the school because of the importance of training writers who will give structure to Mexican cinema.

In what she defined as "six years of Mexican cinema," the president of CONACULTA spoke about the advances in Mexican cinema, such as the efforts to decentralize it and the considerable increase in production of films thanks to Article 226 of the tax law which allows businessmen and women to give part of their taxes to cinema. She also expressed the need for festivals to create schools like this one, which she expects will become "the great Spanish language screenwriting school."
