As people cheered and clapped, Del Toro talked to fans, gave autographs, and interviews. Barbara Mori made a surprise red carpet appearance last night at the premiere. The theater was completely full, and the audience was made up of hardcore fans, the production crew, actors and friends. Daniela Michel, Alejandro Ramírez, and Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, were also in attendance. Finally, the lights dimmed and the most eagerly awaited film at this years’ FICM began. Following the screening, which received a standing ovation, Guillermo del Toro and Ivana Baquero took part in a question and answer session. The dialogue with the audience was filled with good humor it will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most moving episodes of the FICM. When asked what it felt like to be back in Mexico, Del Toro replied: “I’m really happy, today’s premiere is an incredibly beautiful moment for me. It’s different to be in Mexico than any other festival. It’s like coming home.”
