Gallardo (@unamerde ) The debut of Diego Ros, El Vigilante (2016), is part of the Mexican Feature Film Section, work in competition during our fourteenth edition. Ros, who has post-produced more than 10 films, including KM 31 (2006) and Morenita, el escándalo (2008), will debut as a screenwriter, director, and producer in El Vigilante, a film produced by Laura Well, Jack Zagha, Yossy Zagha and photographed by Galo Olivares. El Vigilante tells the story of Salvador, who works as a guard at construction, seems to be the only witness of how two subjects abandon a truck with a body in an area close by. Diego Ros on the relationship between El Vigilante and Mexico "We filmed on location in the State of Mexico; we wanted the movie to be dark. We wanted to solve the issue of violence honestly... It’s not easy to touch the subject of what’s happening in the country without falling into melodrama or false hopes. Yes, it is an allegory about the country and its relationship with ourselves, how much of an accomplice we are, like the character (Salvador) that with every setback will find himself in a situation he did not ask to be in –like quicksand. " Leonardo Alonso on his character ‘Salvador’ "He is complex, trustworthy, good, he wants to do things right. When I got the script, I was afraid; he's a character that’s on screen all the time, who wants to tell the truth, find out what’s going on... I was as honest as possible with 'Salvador' ". Ari Gallegos about his character 'Hugo' "It took time for Diego to find a character that could counterbalance 'Salvador'. When we recorded the first scene the director did not cut and we improvised, then we heard the cut the and we looked at each other ... I can’t forget Diego’s teary eyes: 'That’s what I’ve looking for!' From then we made an amazing match". If you want more about its director, click on Realizadores FICM 2016: Diego Ros
