Transfer Station North

1. Why did you decide to tell this story?

Most of the week I arrive at Taxqueña in Mexico City and catch the bus there at the Paradero Norte bus stop that takes me to my house. I've always been interested in the people who return home, tired from a hard days work. They have this far-away look on their faces, as if their thoughts were traveling to another place, toward infinity. I thought then the bus stop is a detonator of dreams that travel by bus in packages.

2. How did you go about organizing your work team?

All of those who worked on the project are friends or people I know. We were really a team ? I called them to talk about my idea and to start working.

3. What was the biggest challenge you faced making the film?

It is always a challenge to explain my ideas to people, from the speed of the camera, the takes, to the soundtrack. This time I wanted the final product to be exactly as I had imagined it, because what I wanted to achieve at the end was a kind of public trance, just like that of the passengers on the bus.

4. What kind of films would you like to continue making?

Now I would like to explore abstract cinema, which is a little removed from narrative films. I'd like to create atmospheres using images and sound together.

5. What does it mean to you having been selected to participate in the 10th edition of FICM?

I'm very happy. It is a great opportunity to show my work in a festival that I have always admired. And it is also a platform that motivates me to continue with other projects.
