02 · 11 · 16 Mexican Film at the 2016 Cartagena de Indias Film Festival Share with twitter Share with facebook Share with mail Copy to clipboard The 56th edition of the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI), which will take place from the 2nd to the 7th March 2016, will include eight Mexican productions, six of which screened at the 13th FICM. FICCI’s Official Fiction Competition will include Andrea Bussmann and Nicolás Pereda’s Tales of Two Who Dreamt, a co-production between Mexico and Canada, which was part of Impulso Morelia in 2015 and which is due to have its world premier at the Berlin International Film Festival. The section will also include Julio Hernández Cordón’s Te prometo anarquía, winner of the Guerrero Press Prize, a Special Mention from the Jury at the 13th FICM, and the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Latin-American Film at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival. Also part of FICCI’s Official Documentary Competition is Tatiana Huezo’s Tempestad, which was part of the 2015 Impulso Morelia program, and will premier in Berlin this February. The documentary competition will also include The Ballad of Oppenheimer Park, by Juan Manuel Sepúlveda, and Casa Blanca, by Aleksandra Maciuszek, a Cuban/Polish/Mexican co-production. Esteban Arrangoiz’s El buzo will screen as part of the festival’s Official Short Film Competition. The film won Best Short Documentary at the 13th FICM and is to screen at this year’s Berlinale. Carlos Lenin Treviño’s 24º51º latitud norte, also part of the Official Selection at FICM last year, will compete in this section. Finally, Michel Franco’s Chronic will screen out of competition at FICCI this year. The film won the prize for Best Screenplay at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, and had its Mexican premier at the 13th FICM.
