Barbet Schroeder presents Inju

[imagen]Inju, a film based on the Rampo Edogawa novel of the same name, had its world premiere yesterday at the 6th Morelia International Film Festival with director Barbet Schroeder in attendance.

The thriller takes place in Kyoto, where a complicated tale of dominance, hate and passion unfolds between a Japanese writer, a geisha and a French writer.

Speaking clear Spanish, Schroeder said that in the novel the character of the geisha does not appear as she does in the film. He said as he was attracted to this fascinating world, he decided to change the original character, which was the wife of one of the writers, instead recreating the atmosphere of a traditional teahouse.
