Image Pérez Rojas, Carlos He received a grant for audiovisual arts from the Rockefeller and Ford Foundations in 2002; the All Roads Film Project given by National Geographic in 2006; and the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), Mexico, in 2008 and in 2012. His work has participated in more than 50 festivals around the world, including six editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He participated, among other festivals, in the 1st FICM and in the 20th Chicago Latino Film Festival with his short documentary film Cuando la justicia se hace pueblo (2002), which won First Place in the Human Rights category at the 3rd Hispano American Documentary Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence”, Mexico. His documentary Mirando hacia adentro: La militarización en Guerrero (2005) was part of the Official Selection of the 3rd FICM and the 3rd International Human Rights Festival, Paris, among others. He presented A cielo abierto (2007), in co-direction with José Luis Matías, at the 5th FICM and in the ImagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, Toronto, among others. In the 8th FICM, he participated with his feature-length documentary Y el río sigue corriendo (2010), which was presented at the 15th FORUMDOC Festival do Filme Documentário e Etnográfico, Brazil, among other festivals, and won The Alanis Obomsawin Best Documentary Award at the 11th ImagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival. He won the IMCINE award at Morelia LAB in the 10th FICM with his project Tamix (2012).
