XOFTEX, a Bittersweet Film by Noaz Deshe, Was Presented at the 22nd FICM

The film Xoftex was presented at the 22nd edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), in the presence of its director Noaz Deshe.

The film, a mixture of comedy, fantasy and reality, tells the story of a Palestinian-Syrian teenager named Nasser and his brother, who have been living in a refugee camp in Greece.

“For a long time I worked as a volunteer in an NGO dedicated to rescuing survivors who were shipwrecked in the Mediterranean until a friend told me about a safe refugee camp and I went from volunteering to working in one,” Noaz Deshe shared.

Noaz Deshe recounts the precarious conditions in which people lived in these camps, among which Xoftex particularly stood out.

“Designed for all kinds of abuse to occur, it was located next to a crematorium and was so named because there used to be a toilet paper factory with the same name, Xoftex,” said the filmmaker.

Deshe also said he is excited to return to a new edition of FICM, this time presenting his film.
