World Fencing Champion Nathalie Moellhausen Presented TOUCHÉ at the 24th FICM

World fencing champion Nathalie Moellhausen presented Touché at the 24th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) as part of a double feature that also screened the short film The Call Room, directed by Vincenzo Carrano.

Before the screening, the athlete was joined by the festival’s founder and director, Daniela Michel, and film journalist Carlos Gómez Iniesta.

Touché, a feature-length documentary directed by Martina Moor, chronicles Moellhausen's story. Her ten-year career includes appearances in three Olympic Games representing two different countries, plenty of drama both inside and outside of competition, and—above all—a brilliant personality that far transcends the limited popularity of her sport.

During the presentation, Gómez Iniesta shared his initial impressions of the documentary with the audience: “We aren’t just looking at a great sporting talent, but at a wonderful human being who teaches us many life lessons.”

The audience witnessed the Italian-Brazilian athlete’s enthusiasm as she presented the film. Becoming visibly moved, she shared an emotional moment while reflecting on what being at the festival meant to her: “Perhaps the most important thing about this film is everything that has come since. It has led me to have faith in love, to pursue this path, and to be here today in Mexico—a land I consider the land of love.”

Following the screening, Moellhausen answered questions from the audience and spoke about the origins of the project: “I want to thank my friend Martina, the director, who decided to follow me back in 2011. She is my best friend—part of my family—and we began this adventure without having the slightest idea where it would lead. It was her decision. I simply acted out my life.”
