Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the Cannes Festival, comes to FICM

Also present at FICM will be Eva Ionesco, French director who will attend the Mexican premiere of My Little Princess, starring Isabelle Huppert; Bruno Deloye, director of the chains Ciné+, Famiz, Club and Classic; and Charles Tesson, new general delegate of Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival.
FICM will present a selection of features from Critics' Week as it does every year. The films that will be screened this year include: Las Acacias by Pablo Giorgelli (Argentina-Spain) winner of the Golden Camera at Cannes 2011; My Little Princess by Eva Ionesco (France); 17 Girls by Delphine and Muriel Coulin (France); and Take Shelter by Jeff Nichols (United States).
France will also be represented in two international premieres: Le Havre by Aki Kaurismäki and The Kid with a Bike (Le gamin au vélo) by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.
During the festival, the special program Premio Jean Vigo will be presented by the daughter of filmmaker Luce Vigo. It will include a selection of the winning films of the Premio Jean Vigo in past years, such as Night and Fog (1956) by Alain Resnais, Naked Childhood (L’enfance nue, 1969) by Maurice Pialat, and Don't Forget You're Going to Die (N’oublie pas que tu vas mourir, 1995) by Xavier Beauvois.

With the support of IMCINE and the UNAM's Film Archive, the festival will also offer the program "French Literature in Mexican Cinema," curated by Carlos Fuentes and Ignacio Durán. This program focuses on the different adaptations of French literary works in Mexican cinema. The cycle, that will be presented by Ignacio Durán, includes: The Woman of the Port (La mujer del puerto, 1933) by Arcady Boytler, Woman Without a Soul (La mujer sin alma, 1943) by Fernando de Fuentes, Naná (1943) by Celestino Gorostiza and The Count of Monte Cristo (El conde de Montecristo, 1941) by Chano Urueta.

Finally, the permanent section called Imaginary México was created thanks to the suggestion of French filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier, invited guest at FICM 2007. It includes films of different genres that represent the foreigner's view of Mexico. This year the section is dedicated to cine noir and includes three classics: Touch of Evil by Orson Welles, Out of the Past by Jacques Tourneur and Kansas City Confidential by Phil Karlson.
