“The TE PROMETO ANARQUÍA Diego would be very happy”: Diego Calva Takes the Tequila 1800 Award at the 24th FICM

As part of the 24th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), Diego Calva received the Tequila 1800 Award in recognition of his career and talent.

Daniela Michel, founder and director of the FICM, and Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel, the festival’s vice president, joined the actor to congratulate him on this award, which helps foster new projects and ideas within Mexican cinema.

“We are absolutely delighted to see how Diego’s career has soared to such great heights. This award is highly significant to us, given the history of the filmmakers who have received it before him,” said Daniela Michel.

Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel took the opportunity to remind everyone that the actor has been around in past editions of the festival, highlighting his involvement in Te prometo anarquía (2015), by Julio Hernández Cordón, which was part of the 13th edition of FICM.

“We hope that this award, which we thank Tequila 1800 for, will be a support to help you promote a project you are involved in,” added the festival's vice president.

The actor spoke of how meaningful it is to receive this recognition at the Morelia festival, an event he used to attend back when he was a student: “I came to this festival before I even studied film, and later, I presented my first movie here.

Returning now to get an award for my career feels like coming full circle. The Diego from Te prometo anarquía would be very happy.” The actor also shared that he plans to use this support to produce his next short film, which he hopes to present at a future edition of the FICM.
