Eusebio "El Chivo" Cortez, Marco Antonio Solís, Sergio Olhovich, Roberto Guadarrama y José Guadarrma. “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to present this film to such a consistently wonderful audience; it’s a fantastic movie,” said the festival’s founder and director, Daniela Michel, before presenting an award for artistic achievement to José Guadarrama, Roberto Guadarrama, Eusebio “El Chivo” Cortez, and Marco Antonio Solís.“We are very happy—thank you all for coming. We’d like to thank Cinépolis and the Ramírez family for the opportunity, and for granting us the privilege of re-releasing this film after 36 years. It’s an honor to be here with director Sergio Olhovich, who placed his trust in us and captured the dynamics of a group from the 80s,” said El Buki.Directed by Sergio Olhovich, the film blends fiction and music to tell a story inspired by the iconic group. During a tour in Mexico, Marco Antonio becomes drawn to a mysterious woman with a dangerous agenda, while the band faces a threat from a businessman looking to seize control of their music.“After 36 years, to meet again with this wonderful group, Los Bukis (…), some wonderful, talented guys, they are first-rate actors (…). I am very excited to see the film again, I am told that they remastered it, that they colored it, that they digitized it, now we are going to see it as an audience,” Olhovich said.Furthermore, at the event held at the Teatro Mariano Matamoros, the Secretary of Tourism for the state of Michoacán, Roberto Monroy, gifted the musicians *catrinas* from Capula—traditional Mexican figurines—styled to resemble the members of Los Bukis.Founded in the 1970s by Marco Antonio Solís and his cousin Joel Solís, Los Bukis built a repertoire that has become part of the musical memory of Mexico and Latin America.
