This is the second time that Iglesias Mendizábal participates in FICM, as his film Contrafábula de una niña disecada (2012) competed in the 10th edition of the festival, in the Mexican Short Film Section. That same work was shown in several countries, including Brazil, England, Ukraine and France, where it was nominated for the Cinefundación Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. With Sopladora de hojas it is the first time that he has co-written the screenplay. He did it with his former classmate of the CCC film school who is in charge of the photography of the film: Luis Montalvo. Alejandro Iglesias Mendizábal on the inspiration for the film: “This anecdote is based on a real story because this happened to Luis, Samuel and me, when we were beginning to study at the CCC. While we were walking in a park I thought about the great idea of throwing myself on a pile of leaves and I lost my keys, which also had the keys of my girlfriend’s car. I spent that afternoon with them, looking for my keys. And everything that happened I wrote down in a notebook. Afterwards, talking with them I said I was sure that at some moment we would make a film about that and 10 years later we did.” Following is a gallery of photos of both events.
