This year, the program will include Señora Pájaro by Véronique Decroux and Julio Bárcenas, Best Short Film FICM 2009, and Revolución by Mariana Chenillo and Amat Escalante, winners FICM 2008; Fernando Eimbcke, Premio Tequila Cuervo FICM 2008; Patricia Riggen, selection FICM 2005; Gael García Bernal, Gerardo Naranjo, Rodrigo Plá and Carlos Reygadas whose first or second films have been shown at FICM; Diego Luna, who has presented Ambulante, Documentary Film Festival at FICM since 2005, and Rodrigo García.

The screening will take place on Thursday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at the Espace Miramar in Cannes. The directors will be present at the event to talk with the international audience.

CRITICS’ WEEK GRAND PRIZE
Cinépolis Prize

Critics’ Week will present a very select program of seven feature films at Cannes with the goal of giving them greater exposure.

The films will compete for Critics’ Week Grand Prize that amounts to 5,000 euros, awarded by Cinépolis, the largest theater chain in Latin America. Journalists and movie critics will be the ones who choose the winning film by voting after each screening.
Cinépolis, which has collaborated with FICM since its first edition, has given this award for the past seven years as part of its effort to support new talent in film.

The presentation of Critics’ Week Grand Prize will be on Thursday, May 20, at 8 p.m. at the Espace Miramar, in Cannes.
