Films selected by FICM screened in Miami

Expiration Date (Fecha de caducidad), which won a jury Special Mention and Audience Award at FICM 2011, will participate in the Lexus Ibero Opera Prima competition in Miami. It took Kenya Márquez more than ten years to complete this film, the dark and unusual tale of a mother obsessed with finding her missing son. The Last Christeros (Los últimos cristeros), Official Selection at FICM 2011, will be shown in the "Cinema 360" section of the Miami International Film Festival. In this period film, Matías Meyer portrays the courage of a group of men who are willing to die for their beliefs, resisting religious persecution in Mexico in the 1930s.
 
Two other Mexican films will be featured in Miami: Mariachi gringo by Tom Gustafson, co-starring singer Lila Downs, and The Fifth Commandment (El quinto mandamiento) by Rafa Lara, which is about a Catholic serial killer on the loose in Mexico City.
