Sandrine Dumas Presents MARILÚ - ENCOUNTER WITH A REMARKABLE WOMAN at 22nd FICM

French director Sandrine Dumas presented her film Marilú - Encounter with a Remarkable Woman at the 22nd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).

Accompanied by Chloë Roddick, festival programmer, Dumas was thrilled to share the story of Argentine actress Marilú Marini and thanked Daniela Michel, founder and director of the festival, and Alejandro Ramírez, festival president, for selecting her film for this edition of FICM.

The film, written and directed by Dumas, moves between biopic and documentary and sheds light on the life and personality of the great theater actress Marilú Marini, following her for six years in rehearsals between Paris and Buenos Aires.

Dumas mentioned that she did not want to make something chronological or too simple: “She is someone who deserves much more, so this film was a challenge because it was also the answer to her freedom,” she explained.

The director met Marilú after they worked together on a stage production and became friends: “We talked about theater, acting, cooking, everything that unites us through our work. One day I felt I had to film her, without really knowing why. At that time she was 76 years old.”

Dumas shared a video of Marilu, who sent a greeting to the audience and wished them a nice screening: “We are happy that the film is with you at the Morelia Festival with Sandrine,” said the actress.
