Sadie Tillery is the Artistic Director of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. Based in Durham, North Carolina, this annual international event gathers thou- sands of enthusiastic fans from around the globe to celebrate the documentary art form, engage in meaning- ful conversation, and experience the impact of exceptional nonfiction films. Now in its twenty-fifth year, Full Frame will take place on April 8-10, 2022. The festival is a pro- gram of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. Tillery joined the Full Frame Programming Department in 2005 and became Director in 2008. In her role, she is responsible for Full Frame’s annual lineup of new and retrospective documentary titles. She has collaborated with guest curators such as RaMell Ross, Steve James, Amir Bar-Lev, Jennifer Baichwal, Julia Re- ichert, and Steven Bognar. Tillery also serves on the Nominating Committee for the Cinema Eye Honors for Nonfiction Filmmaking along- side programmers from around the world. She chaired the IDA Documentary Awards’ committee for documen- tary shorts in 2019, as well as the same organization’s feature committees in recent years. Tillery has traveled extensively, representing Full Frame at festivals includ- ing Venice, Toronto, and Sundance, along with the Inter- national 1001 Documentary Film Festival in Istanbul, CPH:DOX in Copenhagen, and IDFA in Amsterdam. Tillery graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in film and photography from Hollins Uni- versity. At Hollins, she worked in 16mm film to create several short projects exploring her relationship to family. She currently lives in North Carolina with her husband and their two children.
