Plaque unveiling honors Alva brothers

Their work was remembered on Monday at an ideal setting: the Plaza Benito Juárez, site of the first theater in Morelia. A plaque, with the brothers’ names inscribed on it, was unveiled by Morelia Municipal President Fausto Vallejo, Guadalupe Ferrer, director of the Filmoteca of the UNAM, and Alejandro Ramírez, president of FICM.

Each one spoke of the legacy left by the Alva brothers – Salvador, Guillermo, Carlos and Eduardo – and of the importance of keeping their memory alive through the images they captured with their camera. We can enjoy these films, they said, thanks to the work of rescuing, restoring and preserving their films by the Filmoteca of the UNAM.
