The sculptures are part of the Claroscuro exhibition, presented at the San Pedro de Uruapan Factory, by the Javier Marín Foundation in collaboration with the Baldío Art Land. Public spaces are where you live the most authentic expressions of daily life as an individual and a society. This is where meetings and exchanges of different nature take place. The streets, squares, parks, gardens, etc., are spaces of socialization that, to great extent, forge the personality of each city and are the material resource of the joint history of its inhabitants. In recent years, society has developed a new gaze towards its public spaces. The efforts to rescue them multiply and diversify, seeking to provide them with new meanings that continue to contribute elements to the history that is written day by day in them. After having remodeled a space, it's necessary to generate activities that link locals and visitors with their environment. An excellent opportunity for the reappropriation of space is achieved when a public square houses the work of an artist; a symbiosis is created and an authentic exercise of democratization is born that allows the individual to perceive art and environment in an integrated way. Common benchmarks are refreshed and nourished by new connections. The quality of his work, his long history and the recognition he has obtained in the different latitudes where it has been presented, make his presence timely. For this exhibition, Javier Marín has selected monumental sculptural pieces that interact with spaces and architecture, fostering new meanings: an encounter in which history, art and the everyday life of the city merge.
