He participated with his first feature film El paciente interno (2012) in the 10th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM); the 20th Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, Toronto; and the 56th International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film, Germany, among others. The film received a Jury Special Mention and the Guerrero Press Award at the 27th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish); a Jury Special Award at the 23rd Festival Iberoamerican Film Festival Cine Ceará, Brazil; the Jury Award at the 31st Uruguay International Film Festival; the Docs 360 award at the 7th International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City (DocsDF, in Spanish); and a nomination for an Ariel award for Best Mexican Documentary at the 55th Ariel Awards Ceremony, Mexico.
