Who Said What

Red Carpet Opening Gala
Michel Fitzgerald (Juror): “The short films at the festival always surprise me. I want to be impressed by the pieces in the competition. I’m currently working in Bernard Tavernier’s In the electric mist, which stars Tommy Lee Jones. It’s a film noir, I hope it will be finished by next year’s FICM.”

Richard Glatzer (Director of Quinceañera): “Sundance was incredible, and it’s great to be here in Morelia as well: it’s like winning the lottery twice in the same day.”

Daniel Gruener (Director of Morirse en Domingo) “When I told people in Spain that my film was based in reality, they couldn’t believe that things like that go on in Mexico. I had to tell them that Mexico is well known for its corruption and its surrealism.”

Plutarco Haza (Director of Hugo vs. el mar): “My short is a bit autobiographical; it portrays my love for football and revolves around a kid who is kicking around his ball near the sea. He imagines that he’s part of Mexico’s official football team and that the waves are the Brazilian team. My son, Nicolás, helped me by dubbing the main character’s voice.”
