These assertions are mentioned in Quemar las naves, Francisco Franco’s first movie. Franco has just finished his film studies at UNAM’s Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (University Film Studies School) and he has directed various theater plays. Quemar las naves, was written by María Reneé Prudencio and Francisco Franco, it is about two brothers, that when their mother dies, have an inner conflict trying to decide what to do with their lives without being dependent on each other: “it is about desiring freedom and life choices”, said Francisco Franco at the press conference. He also said: “it is a story about feelings, which is why the cameras had to get close to the actors. Unlike theater this film dealt with character creation: the actors knowing the different stories, their intimacy, and their past. The script was really visual, unlike theater.” The film was shot in Zacatecas, and Julieta Venegas did the main soundtrack feature. The actors are: Irene Azuela,, Claudette Maillé, Ángel Onésimo Nevares and there is a special appearance by Diana Bracho and Alberto Estrella. The film was produced by María Novaro and Laura Imperiale.
