"A New Generation of Actors and Actresses in Mexico"

The 12th FICM presents the program “A New Generation of Actors and Actresses in Mexico,” which will be coordinated by its Special Guest, Lina Todd.

This is the first time that FICM has been involved in this project, whose aim is to highlight the artistic achievements of a select group of young Mexican actors and actresses, offering them the opportunity to interact with great personalities of the national and international film industry. The goal is to provide a comprehensive, educational and interactive program that offers new creative and professional possibilities.

Lina Todd, project coordinator, is a casting director, producer and program director at various festivals around the world. She is part of the selection committee for the International Jury of the Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale, where she has been a mentor and jury member of the Shooting Stars program, produced by the film organization European Film Promotion (EFP), for more than 10 years. This project, similar to the one that she will conduct at FICM, includes a series of events to promote the careers of emerging actors. Rachel Weisz, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Eduardo Noriega, Elena Anaya, Daniel Brühl and Matthias Schoenaert are some of the personalities who have been part of Shooting Stars.

Lina Todd has also put in the international spotlight actors such as Jessica Chastain, Rooney Mara, Alexander Skarsgård, Emma Stone, Taylor Kitsch, Emily Blunt and Oscar Jaenada, who recently played the part of Cantinflas in the film of the same name by Sebastián del Amo.

Commenting on her invitation to direct the program in Mexico, Todd said, “I want to thank Daniela Michel and FICM for creating this dynamic and visionary project with me, for recognizing its importance and for attracting international attention to these very special actors and actresses. We believe that this unique program will be enriched and benefit from the enormous energy of the festival.”
