Presumed Guilty wins an Emmy

Presumed Guilty tells the story of José Antonio Zuñiga, a 26-year-old man who sold video games at a street market in Mexico City until one day he was arrested, charged with homicide and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Lawyers Roberto Hernández and Layda Negrete, convinced of the need to change the justice system in the country, decided to document Toño's case. Like many other people in Mexico, Toño spent two years in prison, accused of a crime he didn't commit.

The film has won numerous awards, among them, the Audience Award for Best International Presentation at the Los Angeles Film Festival (2010), the Maysles Brothers Documentary Award at the Belfast Film Festival (2009),the Amnesty International Award at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival (2009), Best Feature Documentary Award at the East End Film Festival in London (2010), the Golden Gate Best Bay Area Documentary Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival (2010), Closing Night Film at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival (2010), Audience Award at Warsaw Human Rights Film Festival and the Best Feature Film at the First International Political Film Festival in Buenos Aires (2011).
