This is the directors first film about Eliseo, the main character -a yellow photo journalist who is researching about ETA terrorists in Mexico. Eliseo’s number one clue that will lead him to the terrorists is Maria, his neighbor, who is mysteriously murdered and Eliseo grows suspicious. This movie style resembles black comedy, the film is about the Spanish terrorists fight but in Mexico City, “I really enjoy doing research, and I am attracted to black comedy, I believe if the English can do it so can we. Then I started working on this story that spawns from reality.” [imagen]Gutiérrez mentioned that his film does incorporate stereotypes, but they are all based on real life: “the archetype of the blond femme fatal, the woman actually existed, she was a ETA terrorist hunter, she operated in Spain and Mexico, she was really famous due to her tough methods.” This movie is the filmmaker’s final project to graduate from the CUEC. Gutierrez mentioned that this film has been on his head for many years “I thought I would get to film it later on but I got a scholarship of Casa España and the CUEC teachers supported me, good script writers helped me and Goliat Films also supported us." Gutierrez was asked about his research method: “Of course I didn’t go to their secret meetings, but at the Basque Country I was left alone to do my research.” Armando Casas, CUEC’s director and the movie’s producer said he was really interested in being part of the project “because it is a project which is doing many sorts of searches, topicwise and genrewise.” [imagen]Acting José Luiz Ortiz, the actor who plays Santanero, a corrupt police officer, watched many films about ETA and he then created a seductive character: “I had to portray how absolute power corrupts.”Mario Oliver who played Eliseo explained that bringing this character to life was very hard: “we are completely different.” Marianela Cataño, Maria, mentioned that working with Gutierrez was holistic: “there are few directors that really care for actors, Jose Luis gave us a workshop, we built the characters together.” Armando Casas also appears in the film, though he’s got a smaller part, the actor exclaimed: “I don’t know how they talked me into doing this.” Todos los días son tuyos, just had a 11 thousand 500 pesos budget and it will be premiered on February 29th, David Films will distribute it.
