Documentary Tengo un sueño Premiered at the 19th FICM

The documentary Tengo un sueño (2021), by Mexican director Carlos Lara, was presented in a special screening at the 19th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).

Produced by Mexico City's Semillero Creativo de Cine, which involved a process of artistic preparation for girls, boys and young people from historically marginalized communities, Tengo un sueño portrays the power of revindication and social transformation art has, and culminates with a great event at the Auditorio National in Mexico City.

The general director of Cultural Linkage of the Ministry of Culture, Esther Hernández, highlighted how children and young people transform the environments in which they live with their creative capacity,: “Many of these environments are sometimes violent, sometimes gravely socially problematic, and (this program) gives them visibility (…) I admire them a lot because they had the ability to portray the heart of this program.”

The director of the documentary, Carlos Lara, said that being able to attend FICM and present the film was a pleasure: “I feel that it is something important because the film is made in a different way in every way, always putting love for the cinema first. It is very nice to be able to share this film and I hope it'll awaken that flutter.”

The Secretary of Culture of Michoacán, Gabriela Molina, referred to the message of Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, who is committed to stimulating Michoacan creators and new talents.

Present at the presentation were María Novaro, General Director of the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE), and José Miguel Álvarez, IMCINE technical coordinator.
