FAQ about the 12th FICM's call for entries

The Morelia International Film Festival calls on directors and producers of short films, documentaries and feature films to submit their works for the sections in competition of its 12th edition. Here we present the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our call for entries:

Who can participate in the sections in competition of the 12th?
Only works directed by Mexican citizens or legal residents in Mexico are eligible to participate.
Films must be completed during the period of 2013-2014 to participate.
Works that have been submitted in previous editions of FICM, filmed for commercial purposes, shown previously on television, exhibited commercially, distributed on DVD or free on the Internet will not be accepted. Films that have been distributed on the Internet using a restricted password for registered users are eligible.

What are the sections in competition of the 12th FICM?
FICM has four sections in competition: Michoacán Section, Mexican Short Film, Mexican Documentary and Mexican Feature Film.

How can I submit my film?
If you’d like to submit your work, you must fill out a registration form available online at www.moreliafilmfest.com and send a copy of your work as indicated on the form after the Call for Entries has been published. The deadline is Friday, June 13, 2014, at 5 pm.

What does the new requirement for the Mexican Feature Film Section consist of?
Any Mexican feature film that has been exhibited either commercially or in other film showings or festivals in Mexico, is considered ineligible for submission. This requirement only applies to feature-length fiction films in competition.

What does the Online Mexican Short Film Selection consist of?
All the films registered in the Mexican Short Film and Mexican Documentary sections with a maximum duration of 10 minutes can be considered for the Online Mexican Short Film Selection if the director authorizes it at the moment of submitting his or her work to the festival.
The films that are part of this selection can be seen online during the week of the festival. The winning short film will receive the Online Award for Best Short Film.

What is the deadline for submitting my film in the sections in competition of the 12th FICM?
The deadline for submission and delivery of materials for all sections in competition is Friday, June 13, 2014, at 5 pm. There will be no extensions.

When will the results of the Official Selection of the 12th FICM?
The list of the selected films will be published on the festival webpage and in the main national Mexican daily newspapers on Friday, August 8, 2014.
