In 2006, dissident teachers and other community members formed the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (APPO). One objective of the group was to force the then state governor to step down. After months of protests, the movement was repressed by the army. A 10 year old who faced this violence, now 17, gives his views on his country and its social structures, views that have changed radically over time.
