A film about Barbet Schroeder, commissioned by French television and directed by Victoria Clay Mendoza. The director examines Schroeder’s filmmaking career and helps us get to know an enigmatic character who has made a mark on the history of cinema. We attend a series of interviews about his work and follow him on his long daily walks through the Ibiza hills, peppered with friendly, personal chats that illustrate his ever-exploring mind.

For this portrait, artist Sophie Calle tells director Victoria Clay Mendoza her life story in the form of a letter read aloud, opening the doors of her studio and giving her access to her personal files. The director also follows Sophie on a journey as Sophie remembers the way she became an artist and her absurd way of visualizing her own death.

Influenced by the experience of her father, who became a bull fighter at the age of 38, Victoria Clay-Mendoza attempts to explain and understand the essence of this passion. Maletilla follows, over the course of four years, the paths of Iván García, César Jiménez and Sebastián Sánchez-Mora.
