Joaquina, a kind-hearted spinster, lives a quiet life in a small northern Mexican village in the 1930s. Every evening, her thirst for adventure leads her to the town’s only movie theater, which screens episodes of serial films. She especially loves Tom Mix, the legendary cowboy of silent Hollywood cinema. When a gang threatens the peace in town, Joaquina doesn’t hesitate to contact the only hero she knows can save them.
