In a mansion in Georgia, in 1861, the beautiful and selfish Scarlett longs for the love of Ashley, who is engaged to Scarlett’s cousin, Melanie. In a party before the outbreak of the American Civil War, Scarlett meets the cynical and handsome Rhett. When Melanie and Ashley get married, Scarlett marries out of spite; but her husband dies in the war. In time, Scarlett gets Rhett to declare his love for her.
