Chon, a Wixárika man, tells the story of his cousin Faustino, son of the shaman in the indigenous community of La Mora, Nayarit. In 1983, Faustino proclaimed himself god and spiritual leader. Backed by an armed group, he menaced and terrorized neighboring villages. Horrified by witnessing his cousin kill members of their own community, Chon fled La Mora and reported the incidents to the police of the closest village, Santa María del Oro.

They Wanted to Be Loved

They Wanted to Be Loved

This film is an oniric exploration of memory. Silent, deserted places are linked with texts that convey the narrative of a vague love story. A couple visits places around an unknown city. While they slowly get to know each other, the places they visit guard a memory of their encounter. The film's meditative form pulls the spectator into a dream-like state of trance, for in between presence, past and imagination, love is a dimension hard to grasp.
