In Mexico, the Santa Muerte, or Saint Death, has generated a fervent cult following. This powerful figure is considered a saint by her followers but satanic by the Catholic Church. She is worshipped by people whose lives are filled with danger and violence ?criminals, gang members, transvestites, sick people, drug addicts, and families living in rough neighborhoods.
