Kathi König, a recently unemployed hairdresser, moves back to the Berlin district of Marzahn. In spite of an apparently disfavorable panorama, she is determined to begin a new life. After trying to seek work at a beauty salon in a shopping center and being rejected by the salon’s owner, Kathi decides to start her own business. Where will this improvised independence lead her? How will she handle the authorities, the pressure of the banks, the competition?
