At age 58, García, a caretaker at a factory, is finally able to fulfill his wedding promise to his wife Amalia: to buy a home. But the old, run-down country house is not at all what his wife has dreamed of all these years. García thinks he will finally harvest the fruit of years of work, but his life takes an unexpected turn when he arrives from the factory to find Amalia has disappeared.
María, a 13-year-old guerrilla soldier, bears witness to the birth of the commander’s child. She is pregnant, too, but decides to keep the news a secret so that the camp doctor won’t force her to have an abortion. Through her eyes, this film shows us the terrible reality of the armed conflict in Colombia.
