2015 | Color | 107:00 October 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau. Saul Ausländer is a member of the Sonderkommando, a group of Jewish prisoners forced to collaborate with the Nazis. While working in one of the crematoriums, Saul discovers the corpse of a boy and imagines that it is his own son. As his fellows prepare a plan to revolt, Saul has another aim in mind: to recover the child’s body, find a rabbi, and provide the boy with a proper burial. Mexico will no longer exist! A frenetic view runs over a convulsed Mexico City, a colossal metropolis sustained by the myth of "mestizaje" and other colonial forms of violence. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult.
