Miguel, a young fisherman who is married and about to become a father, has a secret affair with Santiago, an outcast painter. Miguel faces a true dilemna when Santiago drowns accidently and returns as a ghost to ask him if he will search for his body in the ocean and bury him properly according to the rituals of his town so that his soul can rest. But to bury him would reveal his relationship with Santiago and ruin his marriage and reputation.
