When Carmen, an adopted daughter, decides to look for her birth mother, she sets out on a journey toward her roots, her identity, and the affection that will help her come to terms with her adoptive mother’s death—and recover elusive memories. With no clues other than a name, the director of the documentary embarks on a quest in the Colombian province of Santander, where her “real” mother is living a life that may not have any room for Carmen.
