Northless wins awards at Abu Dhabi

Mexican feature Northless by Rigoberto Perezcano,
official selection at FICM 2009, won the Black Pearl Award for Best Actress at
the Middle East International Film Festival in Abu Dhabi. Actresses Alicia
Laguna and Sonia Couoh shared the award, presented to them by celebrity Naomi
Watts, for their performance in the film.

The film also earned a special mention by the jury, presided over by internationally
acclaimed Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

Northeless, which had its premiere at the
San Sebastián film festival, will also participate at festivals in Chicago, Los
Angeles, Tesalónica and Bratislava. It will be shown for the first time in
Mexico City during the International Film Festival organized by the Cineteca
Nacional at the end of November.
