Image Cortés López; Mariel Dirección, Guión Mariel Cortés López is a film director, screenwriter, and photographer. She studied photography at the Activa School of Photography [EAF, by its acronym in Spanish, Escuela Activa de Fotografía] and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Film at CENTRO. In 2016, she was chosen to take part in Talents Guadalajara, an initiative organized in collaboration with Berlinale Talents. Her short film Pastel (2017) was featured at festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the HollyShorts Film Festival, and the Havana Film Festival.In addition to her film work, she has developed audiovisual projects and advertising campaigns. She is currently working on her fiction feature film Mientras duermes [While You Sleep], whose screenplay was selected in 2025 for INCUBADORA of the Guanajuato International Film Festival and the Feature Film Development Clinic of the Mexico City Independent Film Festival.
