Participó en cinco ediciones del Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM). En el 3er FICM compitió con su cortometraje de ficción Matapájaros (2005). En el 9° FICM con su ópera prima El lenguaje de los machetes (2011), que recorrió más de diez festivales alrededor del mundo y que obtuvo, entre otros reconocimientos, el Premio del Jurado en el 52° Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena de Indias (FICCI) y el premio New Horizons en el 12° Whistler Film Festival, Canadá. Además, es productor ejecutivo de las películas No quiero dormir sola (2012), de Natalia Beristain, Selección Oficial del 10º FICM, y de Cochochi (2007), de Laura Amelia Guzmán e Israel Cárdenas, Selección Oficial del 5º FICM. Su largometraje documental, Somos lengua (2016), Selección Oficial del 14° FICM, ganó el Premio Guerrero de la Prensa y el Premio del Jurado Joven en el Festival Internacional de Cine UNAM (FICUNAM), y el Premio del público en el Festival del Nuevo Cine Mexicano de Durango, en México.
