Presentó en el 2° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM) su largometraje de ficción Conejo en la luna (2004), que recorrió más de 30 festivales alrededor del mundo y por el que obtuvo, entre otros premios, Mejor Guión en el 31° Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva, España; el Prix Rail d’Oc en el 17° Encuentro Cinelatino de Toulouse, y un Ariel para Carlos Cobos por Coactuación Masculina en la 47ª entrega de los Premios Ariel. Obtuvo además el Tercer Premio Coral en el 20° Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, La Habana, por su cortometraje de animación Pronto saldremos del problema (1998), y el Premio del Público en el 26° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG) por Los inadaptados (2011), entre otros reconocimientos. Su largometraje de ficción Guten Tag, Ramón (2013) se estrenó en el 11° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM). Este largometraje se convirtió en un éxito de taquilla en México durante 2014, alcanzó 1.3 millones en entradas y ganó siete Diosas de Plata (premios otorgados por Periodistas Cinematográficos de México) y obtuvo seis nominaciones a los premios Ariel, México. Guten Tag, Ramón fue estrenada en más de 20 países, incluyendo Alemania y Estados Unidos, y participó en varios festivales en Bélgica, Francia, Alemania, Estados Unidos y México.
