The film tells the story of four men who are cursed by a voodoo priest for stealing a sacred idol from his temple. Soon, a band of murderous “doll men” begins to hunt them and their families. Gary Meyer During the event, Meyer spoke to the audience about the importance of restoring classics. Although it doesn't appear in the credits, this film is based on the novel Burn, Witch, Burn by A. Merrit, previously adapted in 1936 by Tod Browning as Devil Doll.“This film echoes the experiences of my great-great-grandfather Memo, who began to suffer from unexplained pains that inspired him to visit María Sabina, the famous Mazatec healer,” Gary Meyer shared.Restoration of Muñecos Infernales is currently ongoing.
