The goal of this contest is to promote andhelp Mexican artists, as well as distribute the selected work and get it seenby larger audiences. Thejury was made up of Alejandro Ramírez (honorary jury member), Fernando Moreno,Vanessa Bauche, Kerstin Scheuch, Cecilia Suárez, Simón Bross, Bruno Bichir andDaniela Michel. They awarded the prize to the short film Down the (Rabbit)Hole,directed by Militza Galván Díaz from Toluca, State of Mexico, who received acertificate and a check for a 100,000-peso grant to put towards the productionof her next short film. Downthe (Rabbit) Hole will be shown today at 8 p.m. before the screeningof the film Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona. The Impulso al Arte Joven2008 prize also opens up the possibility of the director’s next short filmbeing shown in another national film festival. MontblancMéxico, created the Impulso Arte Joven prize three years ago. Through anational conference, they invite young artists to create a piece whose centralmotif is Montblanc. Each year they focus on a different discipline, the firstyear was dedicated to sculpture, the second to photography in the city ofZacatecas, and this time, they chose short film in the city of Morelia as thesite for the awards ceremony. Atthe end of the ceremony, a cocktail reception was held where the chosen filmswere projected. Among those films shown were Juan Nicolás Pereda Rodríguez’s Antigüedades, who received anhonorable mention. The other short films that received acknowledgement wereDavid Sánchez’s Ella me ama, pero no lo sabe; Ianis Alexis GuerreroRamírez’s El teatro está cerrado; and Andrés Daniel MendozaFuentes’ El mejor corto de la vida, all of which were alsoshown.
