More about 8th FICM in the Cineteca Nacional

The winners of the Mexican Documentary section -- Best Mexican Short Documentary, Carne que recuerda (Flesh That Remembers) by Dalia Huerta Cano, and Best Mexican Documentary, El Varal, by Marta Ferrer -- will be shown at 6 pm. This year, 10 shorts and 10 features competed in this category.

At 8 pm, the winners and special mention from the Mexican Short Film section will be screened. These include La mina de oro (The Gold Mine), by Jacques Bonnavent, Best Fiction Short Film; Ponkina, by Beatriz Herrera, Best Animated Short Film; El venado y la niebla (The Deer and the Fog), by Miguel Ángel Ventura, Studio 5 de Mayo Special Award and Busco Empleo (Looking for a Job), by Paco Valle, which received a Special Mention. In this category, 46 films were selected to compete.

The Morelia International Film Festival is officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Hollywood. The winning fiction and animated short films at FICM are eligible to be considered for an Oscar.

The Selection Committee of Critics’ Week will also choose some of the winning films to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival next year.
