Spanish actresses Marisa Paredes and Elena Anaya Steal the Spotlight

A large crowd gathered outside the Cinépolis movie theater to witness the arrival of Spanish actresses Marisa Paredes and Elena Anaya at the debut of Pedro Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In. The glamorous women walked the red carpet, gave a few interviews, posed for cameras and even signed autographs and spoke to fans.
Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel, FICM vice president, introduced the actresses, protagonists of The Skin I Live In, in front of a packed theater.

“We are thrilled to have you here,” Cárdenas said, addressing Paredes and Anaya. “I hope that you like Morelia, that you leave with good memories and that you come back whenever you can.”

Anaya thanked the people of Morelia for the warm reception she has received.

“This is a very special night for me,” she said. “We’re showing the work that we’ve done with Pedro (Almodóvar), with Antonio (Banderas) and with many other actors. The Skin I Live In is a very special film for me. Today, a cycle comes to an end; this is the last night of this journey. I leave the film to you all.”

Paredes was then introduced as the “master of masters” as she received an energetic ovation.

“This movie was really tough to do from the inside out,” Paredes said. “It’s a film that we made going deep into the depth of our guts, and you can see it; it’s there. I think you have to see the movie more than once. There are so many things that on first viewing you can’t appreciate. It’s a movie filled with mysteries. Some say it’s not Almodóvar’s style. That’s not true. It’s Almodóvar through and through.”
