First Lady Margarita Zavala visits FICM

Margarita Zavala arrived at 12:30 pm at the Cinépolis Centro and entered Auditorium 2, where she was warmly received by Daniela Michel, Director of FICM. "It is a great honor, a pleasure to have the presence of First Lady Margarita Zavala for the fourth consecutive time, and I ask you to give her applause. She comes as the wife of the President of the Republic, and above all, as a great friend of the Festival." Alejandro Ramírez, President of FICM was also present.

Afterwards, Michel introduced Program 6 of 'Mexican Shorts' which includes:  Hilos y Cables by Juan Carlos Martín; Una noche by Acán Coen; De este mundo by Fernanda Valadez; Miel by Lucero Sánchez Novaro; Guerra de papel by Carlos Rodrigo Calderón and Alejandro Ayala; Y Dios quiso by Flavio Florencio and El tío Facundo by Alejandro Cachoua.

Daniela Michel requested that the directors give a few words to introduce [each of] their film shorts. Flavio Florencio began, and said:  "Hola; I never thought that I was going to have such a special screening." Carlos Calderón commented that this was the first time that he had found himself in such a big Festival, "and we never imagined having the presence of Margarita Zavala." Lucero Sánchez took the opportunity to introduce her actress, Maria Deschamps.

Fernanda Valadez, mentioned that her short emerged from someone who is very dear to her; Acán Coen described his piece as, "almost a monologue;" and Alejandro Cachoua explained that his short was filmed in Cuba, but that, "The heart is completely Mexican."

Margarita Zavala departed from the auditorium at the end of the second to last film short. Outside, she commented to Alejandro Ramírez: "I feel badly for Alejandro Cachoua [the director of the last short], but I must leave. How good that I could come; I liked all of the work very much."

Before leaving the Cinépolis, the First Lady, with a genteel and affectionate gesture, had her photograph taken with several adolescents who had asked to have their picture with her, as well as her autograph.

After completing her walk down the red carpet, Margarita Zavala, accompanied by Alejandro Ramírez, congratulated the Festival in front of the media's cameras that were there waiting for her.
