Luz Silenciosa, winner of the Jury’s Award at the latest Cannes Film Festival, was filmed in a German dialect spoken in the Mennonite community in northern México. The film tells the story of a family man who faces a moral conflict when he feels attracted by a woman who is not his wife. Reygadas, who is the first Mexican to win this award at Cannes, received the Special Mention, the Golden Camera, for his award-winning first work Japón in 2002. Three years later he contested for the Palm D’Or with Batallas en el cielo, which was screened at the 3rd. Morelia International Film Festival.
