Los herederos, best documentary in Chile

The jury, Luis Ospina, Cristian Leighton and Jorge Morales, described the documentary?s ?precise use of narrative resources? that ?offers a dignified look into poverty without a moralist distorted message."

Los herederos, winner of two Ariel awards in the categories of Best Edition and Best Documentary, tells the story of the children who live in the Mexican countryside and begin working at a very young age in the fields. The film shows how they deal with all of their responsibilities and struggle every day to survive. These children?s reality is the same as that of their ancestor?s. Every new generation is trapped in a vicious cycle of extreme and perpetual poverty.
